About Me

Hello, I’m Orva Islam, a qualified Play Therapist with experience supporting children with a range of emotional and behavioural needs, from mild to more complex challenges.

I provide a safe, supportive and child-centred space where children can explore their feelings, process their experiences and move towards positive change at their own pace. I work with children facing childhood trauma, family breakdown, low self-esteem, emotional regulation difficulties, medical needs and neurodiversity.

I believe every child deserves a calm, accepting space where they can express themselves without pressure. In today’s busy world, giving children time to reflect and process through play helps them feel understood, valued, and supported.

I am registered with the Register of Play and Creative Arts Therapists (Play Therapy UK), accredited by the Professional Standards Authority and I practise in line with the Play Therapy UK Ethical Framework.

I hold an enhanced DBS (Update Service), Professional Indemnity Insurance and I am fully GDPR compliant with registration with the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO).

I regularly take part in continuing professional development (CPD) and receive weekly clinical supervision from a qualified Play Therapy UK Supervisor to ensure safe, reflective, and ethical practice.

Alongside my therapeutic work, I am a mother of three and bring strong interpersonal skills developed through a varied professional background in therapy, nursing, public relations and communications.
